      The new 1.9 Beta2 gradebook has so many options that teachers will struggle to get their gradebook set up right. This is especially the case for moving to weighted grades that most teachers (at least in the United States) use. Currently, they need to first find out how to create a category, then they need to go to a different place to set the weight, and then they need to get the correct settings for both the course and the category. A real mess that I could not figure out until I reverse engineered one of my own courses that I imported.

      So, this addresses this problem, and is best when used in conjunction with my other patches, but can stand on it's own.

      It does the following:

      1. It adds the category weight to the form where a category is created.
      2. It provides a button on that page that enables the field and when submitted, changes the course to use Weighted Mean of Grades.
      3. It correctly (I think) shows only the relevent settings for each course, category, sub-category, and item.

      To install, patch use the attached files for patching:
      1. grade/edit/tree/category.php
      2. grade/edit/tree/category_form.php
      3. If patched by hand add this string to /lang/eng_utf8/grades.php:
      $string['weightcourse'] = 'Use weighted grades for course';

      Attached is also a complete CVS patch file.
