      Description

'm not sure what the Workshop Module will be called in Moodle 2.0 But if possible can I request the following?

The ability to sent an email notification to the Teacher, or multiple people that a an Assessment had been submitted.

I'm using the Workshop module for a specific requirement:

We have a Course that has two parts, a Test and also a Face to Face discussion.

The test obviously can be taken online, but the Face to Face was tricky to record.

I use the Workshop module to get the student to type into the Assessment Title the Title of the Face to Face and submit the form.

The Teacher has to either log in and check if someone has submitted, or the student has to externally email the teacher that they have submitted the request for the Face to Face.

Once the Face to Face meeting has taken place the Teacher logs in a fills out the Assessment form.

Its kind of clanky but it works. The only problem is if the student forgets to email the Teacher externally then there are delays, I would like everything to happen within Moodle if possible.

Has anyone taken a look at this?

I think it should be possible to add the email ability to the OverRide permissions of the activity as you can do with a quiz with "Get Email Notifications of Submissions"?

They both use the override.php page so it should be the modification to add the "Get Email Notifications of Submissions" to the Workbench activity on that page?

If someone can point out the pages that need to be modified I will work on it myself as this is crucial for our courses.

This should be IMO controlled by general Messaging API, not separately in every module. Workshop should provide some registrable events like "new submission", "modified submission", "allocated submission to review", "new assessment", "grades available" etc. Every student can then subscribe to these events, using whatever client they want (email, Jabber, ICQ, Moodle message, SMS etc).

We have detected that this issue has been inactive for over two years and also did not collect many votes. It is possible that it has been already implemented in a more recent version of Moodle, or it is not highly demanded. There are unlimited number of ways Moodle functinality can be expanded and improved but we would like to concentrate on the features that will benefit majority of users, and which can not be implemented as plugins. If you have a suggestion for improving Moodle core, and there is no open issue for it in the tracker, please start a new forum discussion to see how many other users agree with you, and then create a new issue providing as many details as possible.

Reopening this. This should be implement together with turning the whole Workshop into more events-based machinery.
