The following problem was reported to me. A student taking a quiz with a 60 minute time limit completed the quiz (answered all questions) but failed to press the Submit button. The timer ran out and the quiz eventually closed. The teacher noticed in the quiz results that the student's attempt was still open. The teacher had to manually grade the student.

Should a timed quiz automatically submit an attempt when the timer expires? Or at least when the quiz closes? If not, should there be a way for the teacher to submit the attempt on behalf of the student?

FYI Quiz settings: timed, open and close dates both specified, Adaptive = Yes with penalties.
