      Description

Once you add a category to the gradebook, and set Aggregation method to Sum, it defaults to 100 points, even though this category can have nothing inside.
Those 100 points are included in the calculation of the course total, so students are getting penalized for nothing.
I believe we should switch the default Max grade to 0 points for categories (and for non-graded items - see MDL-18770).

        Elena,

With the 1.9.5 gradebook patch, you can set the maxgrade to anything you want when you create the category. We should not set the default to 0 because it will cause a lot of confusion in the majority of cases, and people will have to go back and change it to a value > 0. Most people that create an empty category actually intend to put items in it, in which case the category's total will adjust automatically.

For these reasons I don't think this is a bug.

I've just put some items there and it stayed at 100 points. Please see the screenshot.
To fix this, user has to change the aggregation method from Sum to something else (e.g. weighted mean), type the max manually, save, and then switch back to Sum.
It can be a point of confusion, so I guess this is something to be aware about.

        Tested. Thank you, worked good!
(Can you please tell me which other issues were there? Do we have tickets numbers? I am afraid to miss something in my tests )

Well, the sum max was updated only if some grades already existed, now it is updated always when calculating final grades.
