      2. Add a quiz to your course
      3. Add a essay question to your course
      4. In that question's settings, set 'Response limit' to 'soft limit'
      5. Add a word limit, and a character limit
      6. Preview the question and see that as you type the word count is refreshed by AJAX calls

      Would it be possible to add a word count function to the essay question-type in the Quiz module? This would be two-pronged: 1) the instructor would be able to limit the number of words that the student can use in the answer; and 2) the student would be able to click on a button in the toolbar to let him/her know how many words he has used.
