      Description

Each multiple-choice quiz question contains text like this: "Marks: --/1"

      Why it matters

To a sighted user this likely means, "You've not yet received a score for this question, and one point is possible." A screen reader user hears, "Marks colon dash dash slash one." This is difficult to understand.

      Possible solution

If a question has not been attempted, do not show this text. If a question has been attempted, explicitly state the result: "Marks received: 1 of a possible 1."

I think we should show this even before the question is attempted. For example, most exam papers I have ever done have had an indication of the marks available like [4] by each question.

Note that in Moodle, this text appears on the left, under the question number.

My suggestion is (I think brevity is important): before the question is graded is says:

          Marked out of 1.00

and after the question has been graded

          Marks 0.75 out of 1.00

By the way, how do screen readers cope with decimal numbers like 0.75?

I have a nice solution to this in my question engine rewrite, which will probably now only go into Moodle 2.1.

Therefore, I am disinclined to try to change this in Moodle 2.0, so reassigning.

Fixed in 2.1 dev now that MDL-20636 has been integrated.
