I've covered the various cases in Behat tests. The only test needed here is to make sure the information being displayed to the user makes sense.

      1. Create choice activities with various combinations for the "Publish results" and "Privacy of results" settings.
Case Publish results Privacy of results
1 Do not publish results to students N/A
2 Show results to students after they answer Publish anonymous results, do not show student names
3 Show results to students after they answer Publish full results, showing names and their choices
4 Show results to students only after the choice is closed Publish anonymous results, do not show student names
5 Show results to students only after the choice is closed Publish full results, showing names and their choices

Note: Selecting always show results to students won't show any information to the participants. (Well, because it's already obvious since the results table will be always there)

      2. As an enrolled user into the course, go to the choice activity.
      3. Confirm that the information regarding how the results will be published makes sense to you.
      4. Confirm that the message is rendered in an info (blue) notification box.

      Test on Boost and Clean

It would be nice if depending on what settings the teachers chooses, if the choice module would tell students up front whether their choices would be visible to other students, whether they would be published with their names, etc. Some people are very concerned about what is done with the results of polls and so it would probably make students more comfortable participating in them.
