      Description

We have discussed this again on Friday, the problem with zip extension is people often unzip it not knowing what to do with our backup files. It is the same reason why Openoffice is using odt, etc.

It was generally agreed it is a good idea to change, we have searched if this extension is used for something common, luckily it is not....

Assigning to Eloy for final decision....

+-0 here (i.e. whatever people "generally agreed").

Personally I prefer to show each file with its "real" extension, but...

... as far as it continues being one standard zip file and as far as .zip files continue being restorable, np here.

            Ciao

They agreed because I kept explaining why it is bad to use zip extension for something user are not supposed to extract. I guess OS X developers thought exactly that when they implemented automatic extraction of zip archives after download in Safari (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2340)

            Oki, as said, np.

Just guessing if "mbk" is a good one as far as has been used in the past for some old-glorious dBase files if I'm not wrong.

            Ciao

            PS: See:

PS2: See this listing for the already used mb* extensions:

mbk was used by Atari too, I do not think it is a problem if we "reuse" some extension that is not used much any more. Out of curiosity I have tried to look up the OpenOffice extensions, looks like they did not care much who used the extensions before.

            "mbz" sounds good to me

Done, all backup files are now generated with .mbz and backup UI enforces that extension.

Restore isn't modified, so it will continue working with any valid ZIP file, no matter its extension.

            Resolving as fixed, ciao

Side note: Jerome, not sure how you're publishing courses to HUB... just in case you've there some harcoded .zip file and need to switch it to the new, dictatorial, .mbz extension.
