      Create S3 repository instance:
site admin->plugins->repository->manage repositories, you need s3 access key and secret to setup

In S3, set up files with public access.

      Description

Unable to use "resource / add a url" feature despite enabling the ability to "allow external links" in the "common repository settings".

We have over 10GB of video content (and still growing), but only a couple of gig of free space left on the moodle server. The repository features should be a great solution for this allowing us to host all the large video files on an external repository like S3 and call it from Moodle using "add a URL", but unfortunately this ability appears not to work. We can use "add a file" but of course this copies the files to the moodle server and the whole reason for using an S3 repository in the first place is there isn't sufficient space on the moodle box.

I believe a number of people had the same issue with Alfresco and a patch was created (http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-23951) to resolve this. Please could a similar fix for S3 be created to enable this feature as without it the S3 repository support is pointless for anybody using it for cheap high volume storage (presumably the reason most people use it).

Without a fix for this I am really struggling to see a way to use Moodle going forward. All help really appreciated.
