To test you will need 3 users. Have user A message user B and user B message user C. Include something notable in the messages. Something that you can search for that will return both messages.

Log in as user A. User A will need the capability to view other's messages. Logging in as admin is easiest.

Go to the messaging screen and click "advanced". Select the "All messages from all users" option, enter the something notable from the messages you sent above. When results are displayed, click on context link of the message between your current user and user B. This should take you to a messaging screen that displays the current user on the left with the other user on the right.

Click back to go back to your search. Click on the context link for the message between the other 2 users. This should take you to a messaging screen displaying any messages between the other 2 users.
