      Description

Issue: Site has a forum that has been broken up into groups. Instructor posts a discussion topic for the forum to see and the students in the groups cannot reply. Before adding or editing a topic, you MUST choose a group (from the drop-down at the top of the page) and add the topic n times, one time for each group.

You have to create 10 identical topics for 10 groups for everyone to be able to respond to posting.

The fix for this would be relatively complex.

Either a teacher/admin message has to be posted separately to each group (automating the process you suggested) or there needs to be a way student responses can be isolated to groups. The later is more desirable, I think.

I've put it on our backlog and we'll try to get to it as soon as we can.

In the meantime adding more information, such as screenshots or even a code solution, will help us and other users.

This image shows that as a student in the course. For a forum that uses seperate or visible groups, the reply link does not appear to forum posts by the teacher that were marked to go to All participants.

This screenshot is of a forum post that is being sent to the group all participants. This post when the forum is set to visible or seperate groups can be read by all participants, but the users with student roles cannot reply.

I unassigned the student role and assigned a non-editing teacher role. The relpy link now appears for the user. Also the edit and delete links, in which we do not want the students to have.

I agree William that it is a pain when a teacher posts to all participants and students in groups can't reply. I have been following Michael's suggested workaround which is to post (or paste) the message separately for each group. I think this is probably preferable to giving them the non-editing teacher role until we have a fix.

            Doh,

somehow this issue was closed incorrectly when processing all the integrated issues this week. (sort of most voted and current in integration filters mix). Apologies for the confusion, reseting to previous status!
