Description
With many teachers & student groups using one Moodle course over the year, it can be useful to add 'teacher names '& 'dates' etc. to Activity names, so students & staff are clearer who is responsible for the assignment... However having long activity names for the course page can over complicate the display of Grade reports & require lots of scrolling in the Grader report.
For example if you have 16 or more assignments in a (BTEC) vocational course, the Grader report works well (teacher doesn't have to scroll for miles) if you give short names to the assignments e.g. "U1P1" (Unit 1 Pass Criteria 1) but this is too un-descriptive.
Ideally a shorter name could be used in the Grader & other reports, with the full name being displayed when the mouse rolls over them. I guess we could use the assignment 'ID number' as the assignment short name , or the 'Item info' field, but the 'ID number' might already be used for linking to and reporting in other systems. For this reason it might be worth considering giving moodle administrators the option of allowing short names for moodle activities?
The alternative might be to additionally display on the course page:
> The activity owner (teacher)
> The activity open & close dates...
