In a course with several groups, create a new forum and set groups mode to "separate groups". Force subscription and then post a message in one of the groups. Only the members of that group should receive the email but all students on the course receive it.

      Description

When a forum is set to groups mode and users subscribe or are force subscribed they receive all posts rather than the ones relevant to them. For example, if "separate groups" is enabled then a student in "seminar group 1" should not receive posts submitted in the "seminar group 2" group. This can lead to emails considered to be spam; irrelevant=unsolicited=spam.

        Hi, Steve.

I wasn't able to reproduce that behaviour.

Can we get more details from you there?

What version of Moodle are you experiencing this with?

Are the group members all students, or are they enrolled as some other role?

        Are there groupings involved?
