      Description

Im not sure if this has been added to bugs before because I cannot figure out how to search the bug reports.

What I would like to see is pagination for forums. When a thread gets upwards of 50+ messages it takes a long time to load and is not fun to scroll to the bottom to find the new stuff.

Assigning to me temporarily because Vy-Shane no longer works for Moodle HQ.

Hmm what's the status for this one and it be easily back-ported to 1.9.x? Thanks Martin!

Sorry if I may, I'm bumping up the priority of this one. It does seem problematic, especially for larger courses. Thanks!

Sorry if it's already solved (I don't know), but this one will be a nice improvement. In my organisation we have discussions with 2000+ posts (that need to be like that) and the whole Moodle performance goes down when we try to open some of theme. We're getting a lot of DB session locks lately because of them. We have started to split them into ~200 post discussions, but paginating them will be perfect. Thank you! We're using 2.4.3+ and we're planning to upgrade to 2.6+ next week.

          Thanks for reporting this.

Adding more detail to your suggestion will make it easier to work on.

If you can propose a code solution, that will help others who may have the same need and will increase the chance of this improvement/feature coming about sooner. If you are able to provide a patch or links to your Git repository branch, please add a patch label so we will spot it. Otherwise, how about posting in a forum on moodle.org and encouraging people to vote, comment and/or come up with a patch.
