      Description

It's great that students can now view the advanced grading rubric. At present, students have to click on a link to the rubric from the right hand menu.

Could the rubric be displayed under the assignment objective before students submit, rather than only after the assignment has been graded?

Advanced grading API can not put any text inside the module page directly. So particular modules (mod_assignment, mod_assign, etc.) that allow advanced grading can have their own code to insert information about current method used

i understand that. i wouldn't want the rubric to replace the assignment's text, just be included below the text, the same as it currently appears after the assignment has been graded.

I agree that ideally the rubric should appear below the assignment text. But if it must be linked from a block, then the Navigation block is an odd solution as I can find no other feature that requires accessing something in Navigation. Teachers access rubrics rather awkwardly from the Settings block, so it seems it should be done in a similar fashion for consistency.

Splitting this into 2 issues - one for adding the hooks to the grading controller and this one for calling it from the assignment module.

This is a definite issue with our clients. An enhancement would be nice to allow the student to preview the Rubric on the actual assignment page, as soon as they click on the assignment link. Navigating to the 'submissions grading' in the navigation block does not seem to be intuitive.

Our faculty are losing interest in using rubrics because it is time intensive to guide students through the process of finding "Submissions grading". Navigation varies between docked and not docked. Too many clicks to reveal the rubric.

As a workaround, I have been manually creating in the Assignment description field a hyperlink to the rubric preview by copying the rubric preview URL (for example, http://www.somesite.edu/yourmoodle/grade/grading/form/rubric/preview.php?areaid=33) from the link now appearing on the Navigation block. So then the learner can click and the link opens in another browser tab. This procedure is time-consuming for me, but it is clear to the student.

However, now I've decided for this Fall semester to turn off the Navigation block entirely (too much confusing firepower for my students even with all Nav block settings at their minimums) replacing the Nav block with the much simpler Courses and Course Contents blocks.

So now to find the rubric preview URL, I will need to temporarily turn back on the Nav block and then turn it back off (I am my own Admin). This is getting awkward and cumbersome. (Making the Nav block visible only to Admins and Teachers has its own issues as well.)

FWIW my +1 for an option to show inside the assignment description area a link to open the rubric preview in a new browser tab or pop-up window or simply to include the full rubric inside the assignment description would be great!!!

I agree with Stephen's comments. I would suggest setting this tracker item as a duplicate of http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-32222 which appears to be farther in line on the planning board to get addressed. If folks agree, perhaps then 32222 needs to also indicate the issue is blocked by 34310 also.

Just found the solution to my own turning-Nav-block-off problem: the URL to the rubric preview is available by clicking in the Assignment Settings block > Advanced Grading > Define Rubric screen.

While the Rubric displays the maximum point value per criteria, the Marking Guides do not. What do people think about adjusting the Marking Guide so their max values are displayed? This would be great information to students, and if its already being used for Rubrics, why not marking guides?
