Cannot backup calendar events without including users

    Details

    • Priority: Minor
    • Resolution: Unresolved

      MOODLE_23_STABLE

      Description

      Version : Moodle 2.3.2+ (Build: 20121014)

      To reproduce:

      + Access into a course:
+ Create a course event in the calendar
+ Go to course administration and start a backup proccess
+ If you uncheck Include enrolled users, when you try to select Include calendar events is disabled, so events are not considered in backup (else you can check or uncheck calendar events)

I think that course events must be independent of enrolled users (like our previous version Moodle 1.8.10)

Hope you can tell me how can I fix it

      Best regards
      Rosa

Agreed – We would very much like to include course calendar events in the course backup archive, without including enrolled users.

Our teachers often develop future courses complete with non-assignment events and activities like field trips. When these courses are moved to the live course space via backup/restore, we cannot include the course events without also including enrolled users.

              Thanks for reporting this.

I agree. Calendar events and users are two separate things. When performing a backup of a course you should not have to choose to backup users in order to backup the calendar events. That is just plain wrong.

I've put this issue on our backlog.

In the meantime feel free to help us work on this issue. If you are able to provide a patch or links to your Git repository branch, please add a patch label so we will spot it. I would also suggest creating a forum post about this issue on moodle.org in order to get more input from the community (potentially a patch we can use) and votes which will raise its priority.

              Thanks.
