You'll need an instance of chat,forum and database activities. Create a group and a grouping within the course if you dont have at least one already. Enable visible groups for the course. Set 'force group mode' to avoid having to set it for each activity. View each activity instance and make sure that the group drop down is displayed after the activity name and description. The activity name should be a h2 when it is displayed. For the forum make sure to check all of the forum types. Be aware that 'a single simple discussion' does not display the forum description. Some sub pages within the activities also dont display the group drop down. Just check that when it is displayed that its not before the top level heading.
