When you browse enrolled users in a course (Administration > Course administration > Users > Enrolled users), alternate name fields are not used, it's always "firstname", "surname" and "email".

When you look at "Navigation > Current course > Participant" or "Site administration > Users > Accounts > Browse list of users", the list correctly use defined alternate name.
