Notification bar on the website for various events

When log on to the moodle users are required to go through all the course content to see what has been updated (Newly added materials, quizzes, messages, etc). It will be easy for users if they can see it when they log-in. It will be easy users when they can see all the relevant events similar to the notifications on facebook. This will need understand of core features,Database and XML.
