Experimental "Group Members Only" feature needs to become a fully functioning feature

    Description

      At the moment, the group members only feature is an experimental setting.

      As far as I can see, the only reason for this is

      groupmebersonly has performance problems that can not be fixed

      From MDL-22033.

      Is this really still the case? And is there any scope to look in to this issue? It's a really big feature that many people ask for and they aren't comfy with using an experimental setting to achieve it.
