Editing submission with an empty folder only Log in as a teacher/admin Create an assignment with the following settings: Submission types: File submissions Submission settings > Attempts reopened: Manually Log in as a student and go to the assignment. Upload a file as a student Edit the submission Delete the file Create a folder Save the submission Confirm you see an error that says nothing was submitted Press Cancel Confirm that the original file still shows as the submission Editing a submission by deleting the file and uploading it inside a folder Edit the submission again Delete the file Create a folder Click on the folder to navigate into it and upload a file Save the submission Confirm that the submission is saved Confirm that the submission now shows the submitted file in the folder. Both file and online text submissions enabled Log in as a teacher/admin Edit the assignment and tick " Online text " under submission types. Save the changes. Log in as the student and go to the assignment. Edit the submission. Go to the folder and delete the submitted file. Submit the assignment. Confirm that you see an error message that indicates that nothing was submitted. Enter something on the online text field. Confirm that the assignment is submitted. Confirm that the submission only now reflects the online text that was submitted by the student.
