      For reasons I am not entirely sure about, I have ended up without the 'messaging' item in the user menu (maybe I removed it in 2.8).

      Pretty sure this is fred's 'told you so' moment.

      I think the situation where things have no 'UI' way to get them is an untenable situation. Its going to make 'upgraders' even more lost as part of this critical upgrade rejig.

      You could:

      • Ensure that these items exist, one time only - as part of this upgrade, to reduce the impact
      • Make them always available in that menu
      • Do something else radical
