The format of grading an essay question is not completely validated.

      1. Create a quiz.
      2. Add an essay question to it
      3. Attempt the quiz as a student
      4. Review the attempt as a teacher
      5. Click Make comment or override grade.
      6. Try grade the attempt with a range of invalid values (strings, badly formated number like 1..5, numbers that are too big or too small).
      7. Grade with a valid value and verify that it is saved.
      8. Click Make comment or override grade again.
      9. Set the grade back to blank & save. Verify that the questoin goes back into the requires grading state.
      10. Now make some more attempts with a few different student accounts.
      11. Go to Quiz adminstration -> Results -> Manual grading.
      12. Click to grade attempts at the question.
      13. Input a mixture of different valid and invalid values into the different grade boxes, and try to submit.
      14. Verify that the appropriate validation messages are shown.

      Description

      When you enter a string as a mark for an essay question the grade is saved as zero instead of getting a message of wrong format (as the mod_assign does).
