Default section name not shown when default checkbox is checked

      TOPICS FORMAT COURSE

      1. Create a new course.
      2. Under the "Course format" section, set the "Format" field to "Topics format".
      3. Set the desired value for "Number of sections"
      4. Click on "Save and display"
      5. When the course is displayed confirm that the section headings are listed like below:
        1. Blank for the general section
        2. "Topic 1" to "Topic n", where n is the number equal to the set number of sections
      6. Check the Navigation block. Confirm that:
        1. The section names listed below the General section of the course in the Navigation block are the same with the listed section names for the course.
      7. Under "Course administration", click on "Turn editing on"

      General section

      1. Click the gear icon on the general section to go to the Edit Section page.
      2. Check the initial state of the page. Confirm that:
        1. The "Section name" textbox is disabled.
        2. The "use default section name" checkbox is checked.
        3. The default section name "General" is included in the label for the "use default section name" checkbox and is enclosed in square brackets [].
      3. Uncheck the "Use default section name" checkbox.
      4. Enter a value for the "Section name" textbox. Click "Save changes".
      5. Back on the course page, confirm that:
        1. The entered section name for the general section will be displayed.
      6. Check the section name for the general section in the Navigation block. Confirm that:
        1. The section name for the general section will be the same as the previously entered section name.
      7. Click again on the gear icon for the general section.
      8. Back on the Edit section page, confirm that:
        1. The entered section name for the section is displayed in the "Section name" textbox.
        2. The "Section name" textbox is enabled and the "use default section name" checkbox is unchecked.
        3. The default section name "General" is included in the label for the "use default section name" checkbox and is enclosed in square brackets [].
      9. Mark the "use default section name" checkbox as checked. Confirm that:
        1. The "Section name" textbox becomes disabled.
      10. Click "Save changes"
      11. Back on the course page, confirm that:
        1. The section name for the general section will not be displayed.
      12. Check the section name for the general section in the Navigation block. Confirm that:
        1. The section name for the general section will be set to the default value "General".

      Topic sections

      1. On the course page, with editing still on, click the gear icon on any of the listed topic sections to go to the Edit Section page.
      2. Check the initial state of the page. Confirm that:
        1. The "Section name" textbox is disabled.
        2. The "use default section name" checkbox is checked.
        3. The default section name "Topic n" (n is the section number) is included in the label for the "use default section name" checkbox and is enclosed in square brackets [].
      3. Uncheck the "Use default section name" checkbox.
      4. Enter a value for the "Section name" textbox. Click "Save changes".
      5. Back on the course page, confirm that:
        1. The entered section name for the modified section will be displayed.
      6. Check the section name for the modified section in the Navigation block. Confirm that:
        1. The section name for the modified section will be the same as the entered section name.
      1. Click again on the gear icon for the modified section.
      2. Back on the Edit section page, confirm that:
        1. The entered section name for the section is displayed in the "Section name" textbox.
        2. The "Section name" textbox is enabled and the "use default section name" checkbox is unchecked.
        3. The default section name "Topic n" (n is the section number) is included in the label for the "use default section name" checkbox and is enclosed in square brackets [].
      3. Mark the "use default section name" checkbox as checked. Confirm that:

      WEEKLY FORMAT COURSE

      When editing a section's setting, the section name doesn't show what the existing title is. It's just a blank field, because it's displaying default. The text of the default name should be shown in the disabled textbox.

      Replication steps:

      1. Log in as teacher/admin
      2. Navigate to a course
      3. Turn settings on
      4. Click the cog icon below a section title to edit the section settings
      5. Ensure the "Use default section name" checkbox is checked
      6. Note what is shown in the textbox
      7. Uncheck the checkbox
      8. Add some text in the textbox
      9. Check the checkbox

      Expected result:

      • The default text of the section name is shown when the checkbox is checked

      Actual result :

      • Either the textbox is blank or it contains the previous text, not the default text, when the checkbox is checked

      This was a blocker for 1/6 users and a lesser issue for 3/6 more.
