Create a label and insert links to WAV, AAC, MP3 and MP4 files (make sure that files are on the same server, otherwise they may not be embedded because of CSRF-protecting headers sent by the other server)
Enable only html5video/html5audio media players (Site administration > Appearance> Media embedding)
View label different browsers and make sure file either is playable or is displayed as link

Test IE 9 and 10, Edge all versions, Opera, Firefox

Moodle currently supports auto embedding of a variety of audio and video file formats (https://docs.moodle.org/30/en/Media_embedding). However, .wav files are not among the supported file types and can only be inserted as a hyperlink. The .wav file format is common for storing uncompressed audio data and would be helpful for use in courses on topics such as Sound Design.
