When choosing a file from one of the repos that supports search, like Server Files or user created File repositories, the word "Search" in the search box is placed there with JS as user text, so to type your own search term you need to delete/replace the existing value.

IE10 and above supports the real placeholder value which is probably preferable from accessibility and usability point of view.
