Log in as the parent and click on the student name in the mentees block.

In the "Report" section of the user profile observe a link "Grades overview"

Click the link and see that you are shown the grades overview page.

Without navigation block parent can't see grades/messages of a child (boost)

See behat scenario "Log in as a parent and view a childs grades" - it has some hacks for now that need to be removed when issue is resolved
