Reproduction steps:

1. Set up jabber message output
2. Enable it
3. Log in as a student
4. Go to notification settings (click the notifications icon and then click the cog)
5. Click the settings cog for jabber
6. Enter your jabber username
7. Go to messaging settings (click the message icon and then click the cog)
8. Turn jabber on for online and offline
9. Go to messages and search for a user
10. Stay logged in, open a different browser so you can be logged in to two accounts at once
11. Log in as the user you selected
12. Go to your messages
13. Use the contacts search to find the first student you added
14. Send them a message
15. While it's loading send a message from the other browser
    Expected:
16. You see your own message
    Actual:
17. You see their message instead
