This issue is related to MOBILE-2217. Word count on assignments is not counting extended chars such as è, â, or ï. I.e the word fünfundfünfzig will be counted as 3 words.

In the app this is solved changing the Regex to /\S+/gi

The new Regexp also counts words in arabic or cyrillic. However, the old and the new regexp won't succeed counting Chinese chars.
