This issue came up through QA testing. MDLQA-11562
With the reintroduced feature of navigating through a moodle course using previous and next buttons, some parts of content can be easily skipped over without the user being aware they are missing content.
Specifically, if a course activity or resource is set to conditional, and the requirements have not been yet met. The next and previous button skips over that activity without indicating in any way to the student that an activity or resource was missed.
I believe that with a conditional activity that is set to visible, the student should be shown a screen similar to what is displayed on the course homepage, that details what must be done before that assignment is accessed.
No change is needed for conditional activities that are hidden.
To replicate:
- Create 2-3 Moodle activities or resources
- Make one of the assignments conditional upon one of the others.
- Confirm that with the current behavior, that assignment is completely skipped over using next / previous navigation without any warning to the student.
