Assignment: Improve submission statement to cover all possible settings

      1. Apply the patch
      2. Keep the default statements for "assign | submissionstatementteamsubmission" and "assign | submissionstatementteamsubmissionallsubmit" and save the changes

      3. Logout and login as a teacher
      4. Go to a course you are enrolled in as a teacher and turn editing on and make sure that at least 2 students (A and B) are enrolled
      5. Add a group "Group 1"
      6. Enrol Student A and Student B into Group 1
      7. Add a new assignment with the following settings

      • Title: Group assignment + submission statement
      • Section "Submission settings"
        -> "Require that students accept the submission statement": yes
      • Section "Group submission settings"
        -> "Students submit in groups" : Yes

      7. Add a new assignment with the following settings

      • Title: Group assignment + submission statement + submit button
      • Section "Submission settings"
        -> "Require students to click the submit button": yes
        -> "Require that students accept the submission statement": yes
      • Section "Group submission settings"
        -> "Students submit in groups" : Yes

      8. Add a new assignment with the following settings

      • Title: Group assignment + submission statement + submit button + all submit
      • Section "Submission settings"
        -> "Require students to click the submit button": yes
        -> "Require that students accept the submission statement": yes
      • Section "Group submission settings"
        -> "Students submit in groups" : yes
        -> "Require all group members submit": yes

      9. Logout and login as Student A
      10. Go to the course and add a submission to the assignment "Group assignment + submission statement"
      13. See that there's a checkbox with the text "This submission is the work of my group, except where we have acknowledged the use of the works of other people. "
      14. Enable this checkbox.
      15. Save changes.
      16. Now you can see that the submission is submitted for grading.

      17. Go back to the course and add a submission to the assignment "Group assignment + submission statement + submit button"
      18. Save changes.
      19. See that the submission status is "Draft (not submitted)"
      20. Click on "Submit assignment"
      21. See that there's a checkbox with the text "This submission is the work of my group, except where we have acknowledged the use of the works of other people."
      22. Enable this checkbox and continue.
      23. See that the status is "Submitted for grading".

      24. Go back to the course and add a submission to the assignment "Group assignment + submission statement + submit button + all submit"
      25. Save changes.
      26. See that the submission status is "Draft (not submitted)"
      27. Click on "Submit assignment"
      28. See that there's a checkbox with the text "This submission is my own work as a group member, except where I have acknowledged the use of the works of other people."
      29. Enable this checkbox and continue.
      30. See that the status is still "Draft (not submitted)" and Student B still needs to submit.

      Description

      Hi,
      the settings of the assignment can be combined in almost any combination.
      If the setting "Require the students to accept the submission statement" is enabled, there's only one submission statement for all possible combinations right now.

      We think there should be three statements:

      • For submissions as a single user
        For example:
        "This assignment is my own work, except where I have acknowledged the use of the works of other people and cited them correctly."
      • For submissions in group mode
        For example:
        "I'm submitting this assignment on behalf of my entire group and I confirm for me and my group members on behalf that this is our own work. If we have acknowledged the use of the works of other people, we cited them correctly."
      • For submissions in group mode with the settings "Require students to click submit button" and "Require all group members submit" enabled
        For example:
        "I'm submitting this assignment as a group member and I confirm that this is our own work. If we have acknowledged the use of the works of other people, we cited them correctly."
