Over last months we got more and more requests by clients for welcome mails if a user is enroled into a course.
Actually we have welcome messages for manual enrolments and some third party plugins. Each plugins defines this process seperate. That makes it complicate for teachers if more than one enrolment method is used.
It should be possible to activate generally on site/course level to sent welcome message if a user is enrolled into a course.
Here are some ideas:
Enable/disable welcome mail globally
Edit general text for welcome mails with placeholdes for firstname, lastname, fullname, course title and course link, course start date, course end date. (Alternative via lang string)
Optional. Send welcome messages as daily digest if users may be enrolled to masses of courses on the same day.

Enable/disable welcome message for this course instance
Disable welcome mail for selected enrolment instances
Welcome mails only for selected roles, don'tsend repeated mail if a user gets a second role in a course
Overwrite default text, including placeholders
