Glossary auto linking causes formatting issue in Feedback activity multiple choice question

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Open
    • Priority: Minor
    • Resolution: Unresolved

There is a specific scenario where an auto-linked glossary item in a multiple choice question within a Feedback activity causes the answer text to split around the link (see attached screenshot).

      Steps to replicate:

      1. Navigate to Site admin>Plugins>Filters and ensure 'Glossary auto-linking' is turned on
      2. Access a test course and create a new Glossary activity.
      3. Add a new item called 'Handbook' and ensure it is set to be auto-linked (definition can be anything)
      4. In the same course create a Feedback activity
      5. Add a Multiple choice (single answer) question
      6. In the 'Choices' box, add a moderate amount of example text, including the glossary item name somewhere within it, e.g: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Duis ac varius ex. Nullam ut elit dictum, finibus ex efficitur, eleifend odio. Etiam massa metus, vulputate id consequat sit amet, fringilla a sem. Duis sit amet risus eros. Handbook In et tempus risus. Class aptent taciti sociosqu ad litora torquent per conubia nostra, per inceptos himenaeos. Sed et tempor magna.
      7. Save the changes
      8. Preview the questions

      Observed Behaviour:

The Glossary entry is auto linked but the question text is "split" around it (screenshot demonstrates this better)

      Expected Behaviour:

The auto-linked glossary item doesn't mess up the formatting of the surrounding text because it is part of it

      Other notes:

      • Only occurs in Boost (and we also tested in the Snap theme)
      • Does not occur in the Clean theme
      • Doesn't seem to affect the 'Label' question in a Feedback module. May be specific to multiple choice questions.
