Today I sent an emoticon to a conversation. When viewing that conversation in the list of conversations, the last message was:

      <img class="icon emoticon" alt="...

A regular user won't understand why his emoticon is displayed like that in the list of conversations.

One possible solution is to replace some HTML tags by a certain keyword. E.g. we could replace all <img> with the word "Image" (preferably in bold), to achieve a behaviour similar to WhatsApp. The main difference is that WhatsApp images are alone, while we can have images in the middle of a text. The same could be done with videos, links, etc.

Another option is to display the image description instead of the <img> tag. In the emoji example above, the user would see "smiley".
