I have a scenario where I have an English course, but we are introducing Spanish elements and want to have some parallel Spanish items, e.g. quizzes. to get the quizzes translated, I have taken a back up of the course that only contains the quizzes and the question bank, these have been translated, and I want to now bring this question bank and quizzes back into the main course.
I have renamed the quiz question categories in the Spanish course, assuming that when the quizzes are re-imported it will recognise the categories as being different, but what is happening is the Spanish questions are being added to the original English categories not the new Spanish ones. I have tried various options such as exporting to a completely different Moodle and bringing back, I have tried changing the category structure in the Spanish quizzes, but to no avail.
I assume that there is somewhere some reference or code within each quiz which connects it to the question bank category where the questions comes from, and simply renaming the category doesn't change this code, so when the quizzes and questions are reimported, it is putting them in the original category not the new desired one.
Can we give the user an extra choice option where they can either keep the existing category structure or create a new one based on the new structure?
