      Description

      Dear Community,
I'm not shure if this is a bug or an improvement ... :

If you create a quiz, assign a Group to this test, set a password in the Group Override-Settings and copy this quiz to a new quiz, the Group Override-Settings will also be copied. If you set a new password in the new quiz via Extra Restrictions On Attempts, this passwort is not valid for those students which are also enrolled in the group for the first test. Attached you can find a detailed Workflow to reproduce the problem:

      Workflow for the first test:

      Workflow for teacher:

      • create a group in a Moodle course (eg: "Group_20191023")
      • ad a user (eg: JohnDoe) to this group
      • create a quiz (eg: "Quiz_20191023")
      • set timing, grade, etc.
      • set a password in "Extra Restrictions On Attempts" (eg: "france")
      • set "Restricted Access": Student must match the following group: "Group_20191023"
      • save

      Workflow for students:

      • login in Moodle as JohnDoe
      • open course and open the quiz "Quiz_20191023"
      • type in the password "france"
      • start quiz

Workflow during or after a quiz:

      • teacher logs in in Moodle and edit the quiz "Quiz_20191023"
      • teacher changes password via Group Override-Settings (eg: from "france" to "portugal")

      Workflow for the second test:

      Workflow for teacher:

      • create a new group in the same Moodle course (eg: "Group_20191105")
      • ad a user to this group (eg: JohnDoe, JaneDoe)
      • copy the quiz "Quiz_20191023" to "Quiz_20191105"
      • set timing, grade, etc.
      • set a password in "Extra Restrictions On Attempts" (eg: "germany")
      • set "Restricted Access": Student must match the following group: "Group_20191105"
      • save

      Workflow for student JaneDoe:

      • login in Moodle as JaneDoe
      • open course and open the quiz "Quiz_20191105"
      • type in the password "germany"
      • start quiz

      Workflow for student JohnDoe:

      • login in Moodle as JohnDoe
      • open course and open the quiz "Quiz_20191105"
      • type in the password "germany"
      • an error message occurs (wrong password), the correct password is "portugal" due to the Group-Override-Settings which are set in the first test

The problem is, that this situation is confusing for teachers and students: User JohnDoe is in two groups: Quiz_20191023 and Quiz_20191105. Although the second quiz is only available for students enrolled in the group "Quiz_20191105", the Group-Override-Settings of the password of the first quiz and first group are also active for the second test. Teachers could edit Group-Override-Settings before, but often they forget or use this function only during quizzes if they want to change time settings.

I'm not shure how to improve or solve this problem, but maybe there will be a technical solution.

      best regards, Anton
