Over the years, users have been requesting support for native anonymity in forums, but it has never been implemented.

While I appreciate the technical challenges behind implementing this natively, I think it would make sense to introduce a capability that allows you to control the visibility of the identity of forum posters.

This would make things consistent with other Moodle activities, where an equivalent capability already exists, eg quiz/grading:viewstudentnames, mod/workshop:viewauthornames, 
mod/workshop:viewreviewernames etc.

Therefore, something like mod/forum:viewpostersnames would help us to remove the capability from say co-teacher, switch to that role, mark the posts anonymously, then return to normal role.
