Social networking analysis would allow teachers to map the social connections of students in a way that would help identify whether they are at risk of isolation or ostracisation. And it would also allow the identification of social influencers. Both groups could be targeted for interventions that help build a sense of school belonging.
Many teachers already collect this data, but social networking analysis is an age-old methodology that could be made much easier on a platform like Moodle.
Students would provide the data through a brief one question survey that links to the class list. Then a social networking map could be created for the teacher.
It is a simple process that could be made simpler.
Could this be built into Moodle for all teachers to use?
