      Description

THIS IS AN MUA PROJECT PROPOSAL THAT WILL BE OR HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR POSSIBLE MUA FUNDING.  ANY EXISTING TRACKER ITEMS THAT THIS MIGHT DUPLICATE SHOULD BE LINKED TO BELOW.

      Overview

When you hit the link button while editing, if the selected text has has link syntax, the link should be snapped into place without the need for the person editing to copy/paste and confirm.

This is how Gmail works, for example. And users expect it. It makes life just a little bit easier and it very much fits in with the UX work going on in Moodle at this time.

The two step process would be:

      • Select the text to be linked
      • Click on the link button

What happens at the moment is more clunky and old-fashioned:

      • Select the text to be linked
      • Copy it
      • Click on the link button
      • Paste your selection into the dialogue box
      • Click on "Create link"

      Summary

      • Project size: small
      • Audience: all
      • Target users: all

      Goals

To improve the Moodle editing UX, saving time and behaving in a modern, smart way.

      User stories

All users should be able to enter linked texts with as few clicks and pointer movements as possible....

Links to existing tracker issues, forum discussions, contrib plugins

      Requirements

We propose that the functionality be like in Google. After creating the link, if the person clicks on it in editing mode, they have three options:

      • go to it
      • change it
      • remove it
