Dashboard / Timeline should exclude active course group filters for course teachers reviewing their to-do tasks

XMLWordPrintable

    • MOODLE_311_STABLE, MOODLE_400_STABLE, MOODLE_401_STABLE, MOODLE_402_STABLE

Pages like Dashboard and My courses and the blocks that appear in them – such as the Timeline block – work as aggregates summing up everything that concerns me from all of the courses I attend or teach.

Currently, the Timeline - without any warning ! - strips off tasks and limits the number of tasks I am supposed to do (esp. assignments to grade) - if I have groups in a course AND have switched from the "All participants" view to a group's view for an activity in that course. When I visit the Dashboard / Timeline, I can thus get a false impression of having less work to do, or even nothing to do (if there are no assignments to grade from students in the selected group).

I want to always get the full overview of what I’m supposed to do when I visit the Dashboard / Timeline.  Therefore, any active group filters from the courses I teach should be prevented from affecting my Timeline status for these courses. (At least in the case of "due to be graded" assignment reminders.)

(I am marking the currently supported Moodle versions, but this has been a long-standing issue in Moodle.)

The detailed steps to reproduce / testing instructions are in this comment: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-73945?focusedCommentId=907095&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-907095
