HQ 2023 Sprint i1.1 Moppies
This is the list of required changes, approved by the UX team, that were planned initially for this issue:
- Remove the activity label only when the edit mode is off.
- Exceptional case: File type --> move the information below the title (near the icon too).
- When the edit mode is on:
- The plugin name should be displayed on both (the main course and activity pages).
- The plugin name should be displayed using the regular font (no uppercase).
- The afterlink text should be hidden.
- In all the cases:
- Center the text with the icon
- Make icon smaller (~40 x 40)
However, after discussing it, in order to make these changes more backportable to stables, the only change applied here is to remove the activity label when the edit mode is off. Icon size, styling and the content in the afterlink will be treated in a separate issue, once the activity cards will be redesigned in MDL-76884.

This is the original content of the description. It hasn't been moved to comment in order to help to read the issue's history):
As discussed internally, there are some concerns about the inclusion of the plugin name on the course page as these names are not helpful to students. In some cases these may even be confusing and detract from engagement.
Some examples:
- We currently show H5P above any h5p activity in a course - next to the icon, and above the title. An "H5P" is meaningless to most users. It doesn't tell them what kind of activity it is, because H5P supports a wide range of interactive activities.
- For LTI tools we show "EXTERNAL TOOL" but again this is meaningless to students. In this case it may detract from engagement as users may be dissuaded by the "External" nature of it and concern about leaving the LMS
- The "BIGBLUEBUTTON" activity is a product name, rather than a description of an activity. Knowing the product name does not really assist in a vast majority of cases. I would argue that we should either remove it, or alternatively use more appropriate wording.
Obviously, in some cases this wording is absolutely fine - e.g. Forum, Quiz, Assignment. [Actually, this is not obviously fine -- Tim, quiz maintainer.]
We have a few options that we could consider taking:
- Entirely remove the label from the course. It wasn't there before 4.0 and it arguably may be confusing
- Update the label to be more informative. For example, replace "BigBlueButton" with a phrase like "Video chat" or "Video conference" or "Video call". This would probably be fine for H5P ("Interactive activity") but does not really solve LTI.
- Allow the naming to be customised by the teacher configuring the activity
