Often sites use categories to order their courses (e.g. a university to organise courses in semesters). 

Currently we can use course custom fields to allow filtering courses based on custom fields, which can be aligned with semesters (or anything else).

An easy (easier) way to add category filtering to the courses displayed on the My courses page would make this more accessible for all users.
