At the moment, the situation with perfoming actions on questions in Moodle is this:
- In the question bank, there is a menu for each question, containing a range of useful acitons
- If you are a teacher reviewing a quiz attempt, the there is only one action you can perform: Edit
- When you are previewing a single question, then you cannot perform any actions in the preview window. (But in Moodle 3.11 and earlier, there was an 'Export as Moodle XML' link in the window, which was useful, and peopel miss it now that it is gone in Moodle 4.0+. See )
- When you are building a quiz, on the Questoins page, there are just actions to preview or edit a question.
This is all a bit inconsistent. I think it would be better to have a more consistent UI, where in all these places, there is an 'Actions' menu, containing all the actions that you can perform on the question.
Well, that has to be 'All relevant actions'. For example, if you are alreay on the Preview screen, then the Preview action should not appear in the menu. Also, if the menu is appearing anywhere that is not in the questoin bank list, then a new action 'See this question in the question bank' to go to the right category, in the right question bank, with this question highlighted, would be a good addtion. And so on.
There are some good mock-ups of how this might look in this forum thread: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=432404#p1740243 (thanks Dominique.)
