Currently we only support rooms which are created during initial setup of a communication provider (eg Matrix) in a course. In this issue, we aim to expand that to allow teachers to specify a room ID, so an existing room can be used.
Some considerations that still require investigation:
- Availability of this setting - for example is it only editable during initial setup (ie when we have no ID stored for the course already), if not how do we handle changes? Also, is this supported where group rooms are used (and if so, how?)
- Validation - can we check the room is valid? Are there other validation conditions we can/should be checking?
- UX considerations - how will we present this to teachers.
