1. Log in as admin
2. Enable web services
3. Create custom service
4. Add following functions to custom service:
   • core_course_create_courses
5. Create a token for the admin user to use the custom service
6. Navigate to Courses > Course default settings in site administration
7. Set Show activity dates configuration to No and save
8. Run the following command:

   $ curl --silent "<WWWROOT>/webservice/rest/server.php?moodlewsrestformat=json" --data "wstoken=<TOKEN>&wsfunction=core_course_create_courses&courses[0][fullname]=Course1&courses[0][shortname]=C1&courses[0][categoryid]=1" | python -m "json.tool"

9. Navigate back to Courses > Course default settings in site administration
10. Set Show activity dates configuration to Yes and save
11. Run the following command:

    $ curl --silent "<WWWROOT>/webservice/rest/server.php?moodlewsrestformat=json" --data "wstoken=<TOKEN>&wsfunction=core_course_create_courses&courses[0][fullname]=Course2&courses[0][shortname]=C2&courses[0][categoryid]=1" | python -m "json.tool"

12. Navigate to Courses > Manage courses and categories in site administration
13. Open Course1
14. Edit settings
15. Confirm Show activity dates is equal to No
16. Open Course2
17. Edit settings
18. Confirm Show activity dates is equal to Yes
