MOODLE_401_STABLE
The problem
I think that it would be better if administrators could limit the maximum size of individual files (activity/resource level) that are uploaded by teachers to their courses, but without at the same time limiting the maximum size of the backup file that can be used when the teachers want to restore a course using a backup file that they upload to the Moodle system.
The thing is that I want to prevent teachers from uploading big files (like video files, for example) to their courses. But at the same time I want teachers be able to restore content to their new courses while building them, using the course restore option and backup files of their courses from previous semesters, that are not located in the same Moodle environment. Hence, the course import option is not relevant.
The current issue
The maximum file size that can be used by a teacher in a course, is determined by the following setting:
Course administration -> Edit settings -> Files and uploads -> Maximum upload size
It applies to both scenarios: (1) Uploading an individual file to a course (2) Restoring a course from a backup file. The problem is, of course, that there is no differentiation between these scenarios.
The proposed solution/improvement
- The "Course administration -> Edit settings -> Files and uploads -> Maximum upload size" setting should not affect the "Restore" process in a course.
- A different/new setting in the "Site Administration" area should handle the maximum upload size that is relevant to the "Restore" process in a course.
Thanks even for considering this. Applying the solution would improve a lot
