As first mentioned in this comment https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-72321?focusedCommentId=1031385&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-1031385 , to which Mark Johnson encouragingly replied, there appears to be a CSS/UX issue with the text size/styling inside the selected category filter pills. The text displayed is too small - as a result, I the teacher cannot easily see / note the name of the question category currently being viewed, while such recognition seems quite crucial. Plus I believe the currently applied styling is inconsistent with other cases where such filter pills are displayed.

      To quote Mark:

"The styling of these elements comes from the core filter elements originally created for the Participants page. However what you're seeing here is an odd quirk I hadn't noticed. Filters that allow multiple values (such as tags) have a .h5 class added to the selected values container, while those that only allow a single value (such as question category) don't. This means that the text renders larger for multiple values than single values.

I can't personally see a good reason for this difference, and since you've found a case where it causes a usability issue, I would suggest raising a UX bug to have it reviewed."

The screenshot was done in September, but today's version of the QA site (2023-10-10) features the same problem:
