The following manual tests should be run to confirm the new component for the "Format" selector is working as expected:

      1. Install the course format "Tiles" (https://moodle.org/plugins/format_tiles/versions).
      2. Login as admin.
      3. Create a course or access to any existing course.
      4. Go to the course Settings page.
      5. In the "Course format" section, check the Format field is displayed and that it contains a list of the course formats installed with a description below each course format (except for the tiles, which don't have any description).

Some of the main changes implemented in this patch (they don't need to be executed when testing the issue):

      1. The kebab menu for the section doesn't contain any reference to "Topics" or "Weeks". For instance, instead of "Edit topic/weeks", "Edit settings" should be displayed.
      2. In the course settings page, the course formats have been renamed to:
        • Custom sections
        • Weekly sections
        • Single activity
        • Social
      3. When edit mode is on:
        • For the "Custom sections" course format, "Add section" is displayed.
        • For the "Weekly sections" course format, "Add week" is displayed.

This issue is part of the course hierarchy epic.

      Issue goals

Since the first versions of Moodle courses use "sections" to distribute content. However, in theory, formats can provide alternative strings for it. For example, weeks and topics format. However, there are many places where the section is still present and others where topics are misused.

After UX research, the conclusion is that all formats should use "section" and not try to use alternative terms.

The goal of this issue is to replace most uses of "Topics" (and, in consequence, also weeks) in the UI and replace it with a standard "Section".

      Future issues

This patch will give consistency to the UI and will prepare the users for the introductions of subsections in the course.
