Implement automatic image resizing (via imagemagic or related function) for course images added in course settings. They are normally shown as “miniatures“ in course info page and other listings, so they can safely be resized to reasonable dimension on file submission. The issue comes from the case in HQ site some time ago when large image was used for course image and on slow connection I saw dial-up effect (slow appearing) for one of the courses at listing.
The dimension can be configurable at "Appearance -> Courses" settings page, default one can be set to some reasonable size (discuss with UX).
