Steps to reproduce:
- Create a course.
- Add self enrolment method.
- Login with a user that is not enrolled to the course and that has at least one message.
- Visit the course page: Self enrolment should show up.
- Click on the messaging symbol and open personal messages: You will see "requireloginerror" message.
Expected behavior: Messaging should open up and let you see your messages.

The problem arises from the fact that the course context is used, but the user is not enrolled to the course.
